[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] The KOSPI continues to maintain an upward trend in the afternoon, supported by net buying from institutional investors.


At 1:34 PM on the 2nd, the KOSPI stood at 3,215.73, up 0.42% (13.41 points) from the previous trading day. The KOSPI opened at 3,218.42, up 0.5% (16.10 points) from the previous day, and although it briefly reversed to a decline during the session, it is showing an upward trend due to net buying by institutions. Regarding investor trends, institutions purchased stocks worth 609.6 billion KRW, while individuals and foreigners sold stocks worth 329.4 billion KRW and 277.7 billion KRW, respectively.


Looking at the top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics (0.76%), SK Hynix (2.67%), Samsung Biologics (2.36%), LG Chem (0.59%), Hyundai Motor (0.69%), and Celltrion (3.35%) rose, while NAVER (-0.69%), Kakao (-0.68%), and Samsung SDI (-0.4%) declined.


At the same time, the KOSDAQ index stood at 1,035.94, up 0.47% (4.80 points) from the previous trading day. The KOSDAQ index opened at 1,033.17, up 0.2% (2.03 points) from the previous day. Regarding investor trends, foreigners and institutions purchased stocks worth 46.3 billion KRW and 4.3 billion KRW, respectively, while individuals alone sold stocks worth 41 billion KRW.


Looking at the top market capitalization stocks, pharmaceutical and bio-related stocks led the gains. Celltrion Healthcare (4.86%), Celltrion Pharm (3.53%), Pearl Abyss (3.65%), HL Biopharma (1.94%), Seegene (2.86%), CJ ENM (0.06%), and Alteogen (3%) rose, while Kakao Games (-1.35%), EcoPro BM (-2.31%), and SK Materials (-1.71%) declined.
