Hampyeong-gun Supports Birth Incentives for Newborns... Program Runs Until Year-End

[Hampyeong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Hampyeong County, Jeollanam-do announced on the 2nd that it has provided a total of 32 million KRW in childbirth incentives, giving 1 million KRW per newborn, to 29 households (32 newborns) in the first half of this year.

This project is part of the "Adding Love to Happy Families in Hampyeong" initiative and began after Lee Heungjae, chairman of Donggeon General Construction Co., Ltd., a native of Hampyeong County, donated 100 million KRW to the Jeonnam Community Chest of Korea in December last year to promote childbirth in the county.

Accordingly, the county planned the project with the local community security council and received project funds from the Community Chest of Korea to implement it from May this year through the end of the year.

The support targets are households that registered a birth in Hampyeong County after January 1 of this year, with household income within 100% of the median income standard.

The recipients for this payment were finally selected on the 28th of last month through a review meeting of the local community security council, limited to households that applied for the project among those who gave birth in the first half of the year.

County Governor Lee Sang-ik said, "The significance of this project lies in the fact that the funds were secured through designated donations rather than administrative budgets," and added, "I thank Chairman Lee Heungjae of Donggeon General Construction Co., Ltd. for enabling this project, and we will do our best to carry it out."

Meanwhile, if there is any remaining project budget, it will be used as emergency living expenses for low-income vulnerable groups at the end of the year.
