A police official explained the background of the crackdown, saying, "Drug manufacturing, smuggling, and internet distribution offenses continue to occur," and "It is necessary to block drug distribution and use in crowded places in preparation for the vacation season."
The main targets of the crackdown are ▲ drug supply activities ▲ internet drugs ▲ drug use in crowded places such as clubs. The police plan to strengthen crackdowns focusing on supply offenders to block drug smuggling and distribution stages, and will also strictly respond to distribution and illegal advertising activities using the internet, including the dark web.
In addition, intelligence gathering activities on drug use in clubs and other places will be strengthened, and joint crackdowns will be actively promoted. In particular, if secondary damage such as sexual crimes is suspected, they plan to cooperate with related organizations to protect victims.
Meanwhile, through regular and special crackdowns to eradicate drug distribution in the first half of this year, the police arrested 5,108 drug offenders, of whom 997 were detained.
