[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gyeonggi Province, which is promoting strong measures against illegal activities in rivers and valleys, conducted a special on-site inspection of Namhansanseong Valley in Gwangju and Gokiri Valley in Yongin on the 1st.

Lee Han-gyu, Deputy Governor for Administration 2 of Gyeonggi Province, toured various parts of the valleys with river guardians, focusing on checking for illegal facility installations, crackdowns on illegal business activities, and the usage status of convenience facilities such as parking lots and restrooms.

In particular, since it is a period when the number of visitors increases, they cracked down on illegal dumping of garbage, unauthorized cooking, and mask-wearing compliance, while also promoting adherence to gathering bans in line with quarantine levels.

The province plans to form a "Special Inspection Team" led by Deputy Governor for Administration 2 under the responsibility of senior officials until the 29th, focusing inspections on 13 major valleys in 9 cities and counties with many visitors, including Baegun Valley in Pocheon, Jangheung Valley in Yangju, and Gokiri Valley in Yongin.

The inspection teams, which previously operated with 3 teams, will be expanded to 11 teams on weekends, with about 280 staff members including 61 senior officials such as heads of departments and bureaus from the Northern Provincial Office participating.

Additionally, a "Provincial-City-County Joint Rapid Response Team for Illegal Activities" will be operated, and if illegal activities in rivers and valleys are detected, the provincial special judicial police unit will be dispatched to carry out removal and other actions.

Deputy Governor Lee Han-gyu stated, "To return clean valleys to the residents, we will continuously strive to manage and supervise so that acts obstructing residents' coexistence efforts and citizens' rights do not occur."
