Israel Defeats Mexico 12-5
The national baseball team is increasingly likely to face Israel again. This is because Israel advanced to the second round of the knockout stage by defeating Mexico.
On the 1st, Israel defeated Mexico 12-5 in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics baseball knockout stage game held at Yokohama Stadium in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. As a result, they will face the winner of the Korea-Dominican Republic game at 7 PM that day for a spot in the semifinals tomorrow (the 2nd). Mexico was the first of the six teams participating in this tournament to be eliminated.
Israel, pushed to the brink after consecutive losses to Korea and the United States, showed a powerful offense that day. They scored the first run in the 1st inning with an RBI hit by Nick Rickles, and added five runs in the 3rd inning with a three-run homer by Danny Valencia and a two-RBI hit by Rickles. Mexico did not give up easily. In the 3rd inning, they shifted momentum by scoring four runs thanks to an RBI hit by Ryan Goins and a wild pitch by opposing starting pitcher Josh Zeid. In the 6th inning, an RBI hit by Adrian Gonzalez narrowed the score gap to one run. However, Fernando Salas and Oliver Perez, who took the mound in the 7th inning, only managed to get two outs while giving up six runs, leading to Mexico packing up first.
