IBK 60th Anniversary... President Yoon Jong-won: "Let's Enhance Economic Dynamism through SME Support"

A New 60 Years of Innovation and Inclusion

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi]IBK Industrial Bank of Korea announced on the 1st that, in celebration of its 60th anniversary and in accordance with the Level 4 social distancing measures in the metropolitan area, it delivered a commemorative speech and announced employees with outstanding performance through the company intranet and YouTube without holding a separate event.

In his commemorative speech, President Yoon Jong-won praised the employees' efforts, saying, “The past 60 years of IBK have been a history of protecting the nation (Boguk) by supporting the industrialization of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), serving as a safety net during financial crises, and complementing areas of market failure, faithfully fulfilling its role as a policy bank.”

He continued, “It is difficult to predict the future at the starting line of the new 60 years, but survival depends on how we respond to change,” and emphasized, “Even amid many challenges and changes, we must uphold the mission of supporting SMEs as stipulated in the Constitution and the Industrial Bank of Korea Act, and enhance the bank’s own competitiveness.”

Furthermore, he stated, “We must support SMEs to grow as the main agents of future innovation to increase the dynamism of the economy and improve financial accessibility for marginalized groups, thereby supporting inclusive growth of the national economy.”

As three development tasks to respond to the changing world, he presented ▲expansion of innovative finance centered on people and technology ▲comprehensive innovation in customer relationships, revenue structure, and work methods ▲creating a workplace where employees are happy.

Finally, President Yoon emphasized the original intention of the executives and employees. “Let us restart with the same heart as when we first wore the IBK badge engraved with the wings of success soaring into the blue sky on our lapels,” and pledged, “Let IBK lead innovation and become a bank faithful to the basics, taking the lead in opening a bright future for SMEs and the Korean economy.”
