[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] From midnight to 9 PM on the 29th, the number of new COVID-19 cases in Seoul was provisionally counted at 484, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced. Compared to the same time frame, this is 11 fewer than the previous day (28th) with 495 cases, and 6 fewer than last Thursday (22nd) with 490 cases. The total number of cases for the entire day was 515 on the 28th and 520 on the 22nd.
The daily number of confirmed cases in Seoul rose to the 300s at the end of last month, then surged to the 500s this month, breaking records twice with 583 cases on the 6th and 638 cases on the 13th. On the 20th, the spread continued with the second highest number ever recorded at 604 cases. Recently, the weekly average daily confirmed cases in Seoul increased from 468.7 in the 28th week of this year (July 4?10) to 518.7 in the 29th week (July 11?17), then slightly declined to 484.3 in the 30th week (July 18?24), but the spread has not clearly subsided.
As of this time, the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Seoul is provisionally counted at 63,880. The total number of cases for the entire day will be compiled as of midnight on the 30th and announced in the morning.
