Female Judoka Yoon Hyun-ji Fails to Secure Bronze Medal in 78kg Category

[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] Yoon Hyun-ji (Ansan City Hall) of the Korean women's judo team in the 78kg category narrowly lost in the bronze medal match.

On the 29th, at the Tokyo Budokan in Tokyo, Yoon Hyun-ji lost by ippon to Mayra Aguiar of Brazil, ranked 8th in the world, in the bronze medal match of the women's judo 78kg category at the Tokyo Olympics.

With about 3 minutes left in the match, Yoon attempted a seoi nage, but her opponent countered with an osaekomi. Yoon was ultimately unable to escape and conceded the victory by ippon.

The Korean women's judo team has yet to secure a medal. On the 30th, all hopes rest on Han Mi-jin, who will compete in the over 78kg category.
