Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Tightens Measures to Eradicate Habitual Illegal Dumping of Trash

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Samho) is making efforts to eradicate habitual illegal dumping of garbage.

On the 29th, Gwangsan-gu announced that it installed mobile CCTVs at three locations with many complaints about illegal dumping: two in Cheomdan 2-dong and one in Dosan-dong.

The existing fixed CCTVs had limitations in responding quickly to illegal dumping complaints due to the time and cost required for installation and restrictions on installation locations.

Mobile CCTVs have the advantage of being relatively easy to move and install, allowing for more active and flexible responses to complaints.

The district expects that mobile CCTVs will help eliminate blind spots in illegal garbage dumping.

A Gwangsan-gu official said, “We plan to circulate and deploy the three mobile CCTVs currently in pilot operation mainly in areas where habitual complaints have occurred. We will purchase 10 more units within the year and strengthen crackdowns to eradicate illegal garbage dumping.”
