[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Yoo Geun-gi) announced on the 28th that it will operate a free home collection service for discarded electronic appliances in collaboration with the Korea Electronic Products Recycling Cooperative.
By using the free home collection service for discarded electronic appliances, residents can dispose of their old electronics without any fees or charges. Additionally, the cooperative's dedicated collection and transportation team visits the applicant's doorstep at the scheduled time to pick up the items, making it very convenient.
The items eligible for collection include large discarded electronic appliances such as TVs, refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, and air purifiers. Also included are stereo systems and PC sets (main unit and monitor).
Small and medium-sized products under 1 meter in length are generally not eligible for the free collection service due to the costs associated with manpower and vehicle operation. However, if small and medium-sized products are not disposed of individually but requested together when collecting large appliances, the service can be used.
A county official stated, “This service not only eliminates the burden of fees but also the effort of moving heavy discarded electronics to collection points. We expect a reduction in the illegal abandonment of discarded electronic appliances. We hope many residents will take advantage of this service.”
