[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] President Moon Jae-in has instructed to establish a method for estimating electricity generated from residential and small-scale solar power, as this electricity is not being metered.

On the morning of the 27th, during a staff meeting, President Moon stated, "When calculating the proportion of renewable energy such as solar energy, electricity produced by some solar power facilities, including residential solar panels and small-scale solar power plants, is not metered, which may result in inaccurate reflection of the actual situation."

President Moon said, "Currently, identifying the amount of electricity not metered in real-time by the Korea Power Exchange is essential not only for managing power supply and demand but also for setting the country's Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) for greenhouse gas reduction," and instructed, "Please prepare an estimation method."

Additionally, following his encouragement last week to support medical staff and quarantine personnel at temporary screening clinics suffering from the heatwave, President Moon instructed, "Since fire department recovery support vehicles must be used for their original purposes in some cases, the Ministry of Health and Welfare should secure recovery support vehicles and consider using them as mobile shelters and for multiple purposes."
