[Asia Economy Reporter Park Cheol-eung] Yoon Ho-jung, floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, called the prosecution's investigation into former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk a "fabricated truth" and urged the prosecution's inspection and the investigation by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO).
On the 27th, at the floor strategy meeting, Floor Leader Yoon said, "The truth about Cho Min, the daughter of former Minister Cho Kuk, which was almost buried, has finally been revealed," adding, "Jang, a high school classmate who testified that she did not see Cho Min regarding the false Seoul National University internship certificate allegation, courageously revealed the truth, saying, 'The person in the video is indeed Cho Min, and my grudge concealed the truth.'"
He continued, "During the prosecution's investigation, they threatened with perjury charges and did not forget to conduct pre-interviews before witness appearances. They imposed a travel ban on Jang's father, Professor Jang, investigated him six times, and summoned his mother for questioning, investigating the family 11 times in total," criticizing, "Selective investigation has brought both the Cho family and the Jang family to the brink of ruin."
He added, "In the face of fabricated truth, national division and public conflict have also reached their peak. The person who divided public opinion to maintain a tiny fraction of prosecutorial power is not taking responsibility but rather talks about national unity and is running as an opposition party presidential candidate. Something is seriously wrong. It is a lamentable situation."
This is a strong criticism of the prosecution. Floor Leader Yoon said, "The family hostage drama scripted by the prosecution, which anticipated success, was prematurely ended by a confession of conscience. The prosecution's perjury coaching and abuse of power have resurfaced," adding, "How long must the public bear the burden of a difficult struggle against the prosecution's fabricated truth? The prosecution must immediately begin an inspection. The Human Rights Protection Officer must also investigate the facts, and the CIO should clarify the entire case and start investigating those involved."
