NH Investment & Securities to Collaborate on Industry-Academic Research with Seoul National University Graduate School of Data Science

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] NH Investment & Securities announced on the 27th that it will promote an industry-academic joint research project with the Graduate School of Data Science at Seoul National University on the topic of ‘Stock Keyword and Supply Chain-based Stock Correlation Analysis.’ The supply chain refers to the analysis and visualization of the supply network status of raw materials and intermediate goods between companies. NH Investment & Securities plans to provide investment services using supply chain data for the first time in the financial investment industry.

On the 23rd, NH Investment & Securities held a remote video conference to launch the joint research project, attended by President Jung Young-chae, Dean Cha Sang-gyun of the Graduate School of Data Science at Seoul National University, and other executives and staff. Through this industry-academic joint research, NH Investment & Securities will provide data and AI-based investment services by utilizing supply chain data between companies and combining unstructured data for the first time in the domestic financial investment sector. In addition, NH Investment & Securities plans to continuously conduct new research applying the Graduate School of Data Science at Seoul National University’s AI new technologies to its abundant financial data, expanding the industry-academic cooperation system for financial service innovation.

The Graduate School of Data Science at Seoul National University explained that this research is a new form of study that goes beyond the existing simple time-series information analysis-oriented data provision by combining supply chain data and other information not previously considered by securities firms with the results of other unstructured data analyses. Once the service is launched, customers will be able to view in-depth information utilizing the industrial ecosystem at a glance. The research includes ▲analyzing news/disclosure data to extract stock keywords and correlation information between companies ▲deriving knowledge graph-based results by combining extracted keywords with the supply chain ▲studying stock information calculation methods to support customer-centered stock searches. Through this, it aims to provide customers with AI-based investment information that considers related markets and corporate relationships to facilitate easy investment.

President Jung Young-chae stated, “This will create an excellent case where financial companies with vast data and research institutions with data analysis technology collaborate to create financial innovation together,” adding, “We will become a leading Platform Player through mobile platform superiority.”

Meanwhile, NH Investment & Securities signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) last July with the Graduate School of Data Science at Seoul National University for joint research cooperation on core asset management technologies utilizing MyData.
