[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province is undertaking the development of local tourism resources, including the creation of an ecological park at Baekmagang in Buyeo.
On the 27th, the province announced that it had discovered 15 new projects under the '2022 Tourism Resource Development Project.'
The Tourism Resource Development Project has been promoted through public contests and evaluations by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. However, since last year, the project has been transferred to local governments, and currently, the province directly discovers and selects projects.
Based on this, the province surveyed cities and counties planning to implement new projects from next year, excluding ongoing and concluding projects, starting in the first half of the year. After evaluation by a review committee composed of tourism experts, 15 projects were selected across 10 cities and counties.
First, the province selected the following as excellent projects: ▲Creation of Baekmagang Ecological Park in Buyeo ▲Development of Mongsanpo Landmark in Taean ▲Development of Virtual Reality (VR) Military Experience Content at Sunshine Land in Nonsan.
Additionally, new projects included in the list are ▲Installation of a monorail at Yedangho in Yesan ▲Development of water tourism at Chilgapho in Cheongyang ▲Improvement of pedestrian environment at Sapgyoho tourist site in Dangjin ▲Creation of a trekking course at Cheonsuman Beach in Boryeong ▲Development of a Chungnam-type 4th Industrial Peace Experience in Gyeryong ▲Installation of an ecological tourism train in Seocheon ▲Development of tourism resources at Gaesamteo Park in Geumsan.
The province plans to establish the Tourism Resource Development Project plan reflecting expert opinions and to actively promote each project starting next year.
A provincial official stated, “We will focus on securing the main budget to ensure the smooth progress of the newly discovered tourism resource development projects,” and added, “The province will continue to do its best to provide attractions and experiential content so that tourists visiting the region can have a satisfying travel experience.”
