Namyangju 'Dog Bite Death Incident' Owner's Arrest Warrant Denied

[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] The arrest warrant for Mr. A, a man in his 60s identified as the dog owner in the fatal dog attack incident that occurred in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, has been dismissed.

On the 26th, the Uijeongbu District Court dismissed the arrest warrant, stating "there is insufficient evidence to prove the charges." Earlier, the Namyangju Northern Police Station had requested an arrest warrant for Mr. A on charges of negligent homicide and instructing evidence destruction.

Mr. A is accused of neglecting the management of his large dog, which attacked and killed a woman in her 60s around 3:25 p.m. on May 22 at the entrance of a mountain in Saneung-ri, Jingun-eup, Namyangju.

Additionally, he is suspected of instructing an acquaintance to destroy evidence immediately after the incident and of conducting illegal medical practices at his dog farm, unrelated to this case.

However, Mr. A denies all related charges, and the police are considering reapplying for an arrest warrant after supplementary investigations.
