Suncheon Regional Self-Sufficiency Center 'Jujeonburi Sanghoe' Wins Gold Prize at Self-Sufficiency Product Competition

[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Heo Seok) announced on the 26th that the "Nunkkot Gimbugak" product produced by the self-sufficiency project group "Jujeonburi Sanghoe" won the gold prize at this year's Excellent Self-Sufficiency Products Competition hosted by the Korea Self-Sufficiency Welfare Development Institute under the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

The Excellent Self-Sufficiency Products Competition is held to discover representative products from self-sufficiency centers nationwide and to enhance the market competitiveness and product quality of self-sufficiency products. A total of 250 regional self-sufficiency centers participated, and products from 10 centers were selected as excellent products.

The "Jujeonburi Sanghoe," honored with the gold prize, plans to use the prize money of 1.5 million won for facility and equipment investment, education, promotion, and boosting the morale of participants.

Additionally, the excellent self-sufficiency product "Nunkkot Gimbugak" has been certified as a "Goods Goods" product by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, supporting its market development by being recommended as a priority purchase product in the public market as a representative self-sufficiency product.

"Goods Goods" is a certification system by the Ministry of Health and Welfare for products produced by self-sufficiency enterprises or project groups that are of excellent quality, meaning "products made by good people."

Suncheon Regional Self-Sufficiency Center's "Jujeonburi Sanghoe" started its business in May 2019, and as word of mouth spread and sales increased, it expanded and relocated its business to a shopping area near Suncheon Ujang.

"Nunkkot Gimbugak" requires care as each piece is hand-coated with domestically produced glutinous rice porridge, fried in clean oil to bloom white like snowflakes, making it visually appealing. It also has a crisp texture compared to other bugak, with the oil removed so it is not greasy, resulting in a very high repurchase rate among those who have tried it.

Kim, the team leader of "Jujeonburi Sanghoe," who directly developed Nunkkot Gimbugak, said, "The excellence of the taste had only been recognized through word of mouth, so I am pleased that it has now been officially acknowledged through this competition."

A city official stated, "We will continue to nurture the regional self-sufficiency center project groups, which are entrusted to help low-income groups achieve self-sufficiency and independence, and actively support their growth into self-sufficiency enterprises."
