[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] On the 26th, Sejong Telecom held a non-face-to-face founding ceremony to celebrate the 31st anniversary of the founding of Sejong Group and unveiled its second half strategy embodying the corporate vision of ‘benefiting nature and humanity.’
Sejong Telecom plans to apply the vision of ‘creating the highest value that benefits humanity and nature to contribute to the world’ to its business areas in order to sustain itself as a sustainable company, participating in digital innovation and the spread of dynamism through ICT technology.
The main strategies for the second half include ▲strengthening global cooperative businesses and launching specialized products suitable for the digital social transition ▲launching real estate collective investment and medical MyData demonstration services in the Busan Blockchain Regulatory Free Zone ▲expanding and strengthening mobile platforms.
First, to secure competitiveness in its core telecommunications business, the company plans to strengthen global cooperative businesses and continuously introduce ICT convergence services suitable for the digital transition and non-face-to-face era by the end of the year.
In the data business sector, efforts are being made to accelerate cooperation in the data center (IDC) business with Digital Edge, with which a strategic partnership agreement was signed last April. As an official partner of the global public cloud Big 3 companies, Sejong Telecom is aggressively pursuing corporate clients for services such as ‘Cloud Eum’ and ‘Ariaka Service,’ a global network quality improvement solution. In the voice service sector, the AI-based voice platform has been completed, and pre-demo tests and function enhancements are underway for client companies.
Sejong Telecom is also focusing on fostering blockchain-based businesses as a mid- to long-term growth engine. Currently, development and preparations for the launch in the fourth quarter of the ‘real estate collective investment and profit distribution service’ and the ‘medical MyData non-face-to-face platform service’ being introduced in the Busan Blockchain Regulatory Free Zone are in full swing. They aim to implement a trust system through multi-party counterparty trading using blockchain and create a real estate public fund market that allows participation by general small investors.
Sejong Telecom plans to conduct a pilot test for a 5G specialized network demonstration within the year. The ‘5G Specialized Network Mobile Caravan’ project is a solution where a caravan team composed of experts in each field visits companies intending to introduce specialized networks to identify difficulties and propose solutions. The project is open to any business with technological capability regardless of sales scale or region, aiming to promote mutual growth with local small and medium-sized enterprises.
The MVNO brand Snowman took advantage of the expiration of the two-year contract period after the 5G launch by releasing an independent 5G rate plan, adding leased networks from LG Uplus in addition to the existing KT, and providing same-day delivery services in Seoul and other areas. To strengthen digital sales channels in the second half, the Snowman Direct Mall is undergoing remodeling, and it plans to collaborate with industries capable of securing data such as shopping and search to become a service that fits the latest lifestyle changes.
At this founding anniversary ceremony, Chairman Kim Hyung-jin emphasized creating ESG (environment, social, governance) value as a business in connection with the business portfolio and sharing it with the local community.
Chairman Kim said, “Sejong Telecom’s vision of ‘creating the highest value that benefits humanity and nature to contribute to the world’ resembles the fundamental spirit of ESG management,” adding, “Rather than grand goals, let us solve environmental and social issues through the ICT business we are most confident in and strive for internalization and advancement both inside and outside the company.”
