KakaoTV Original Surpasses 1 Billion Cumulative Views

[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Kakao Entertainment announced on the 26th that the cumulative views of 45 original contents on KakaoTV have surpassed 1 billion views. It has been 11 months since its debut in September last year.

KakaoTV Originals provide differentiated content from existing TV content through bold attempts that break the conventional framework in terms of subject matter, planning, composition, and format.

Works such as "Myeoneuragi," which depicts the life of entering the in-law world, and "Love in the City," portraying the realistic romance of men and women in their 20s and 30s, opened a new genre called 'well-made mid-form' dramas with high completeness. Recently concluded series like "Crazy X in This Area," "Not Yet Thirty," and "Engine On from Today" recorded over 3 million views per episode. In particular, "Crazy X in This Area," which comically portrays various social issues, gained sensational popularity not only on KakaoTV but also on Netflix.

Variety shows such as "Ants Are Still Chubby Today," "Jjin Kyunggyu," and "Shall We Talk?" are the longest-running programs among KakaoTV Originals, each recording cumulative views of 70 to 80 million, gaining great popularity.

In addition to dramas and variety shows, live shows from the untact fan concert (fan + concert) projects like "Suzy: A Tempo," "Park Seojoon, Comma," and "Choi Wooshik's A Midsummer Night's Dream" have continuously attracted fans' attention with real-time views exceeding 1 million.

Shin Jongsoo, Head of Streaming Video Business at Kakao Entertainment, said, "We will continue to make bolder and newer attempts and experiments to further expand the genres and areas of KakaoTV Originals, striving to provide viewers with diverse and exciting content."
