Shinhan Bank Introduces Facial Recognition Security System 'FaceLocker'

[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] Shinhan Bank announced on the 26th that it has introduced 'FaceLocker,' a facial recognition physical security system, to strengthen information security for remote workers.

Shinhan Bank, which was the first in the financial sector to implement remote work for customer service center employees in March last year to prevent the spread of COVID-19, expanded remote work for employees due to the resurgence of COVID-19 and simultaneously introduced FaceLocker to ensure the safe management of customer information.

FaceLocker is a physical security system that uses a camera installed on laptops for remote work to identify the user's face and grant laptop usage rights only to pre-authorized workers. If the worker leaves their seat or a third party attempts to use the laptop, the system immediately activates a screen lock that blocks the exposure of customer and work information, thereby securely protecting important information.

A Shinhan Bank official stated, "FaceLocker is an essential system to protect customer information in the situation where remote work has become routine due to the COVID-19 outbreak. We introduced FaceLocker targeting customer service center employees, who have the highest need for remote work, and will gradually expand its use so that employees can stay healthy and customers can receive services safely and without inconvenience."
