[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] Our women's archery team made history by winning their ninth consecutive Olympic team event gold medal.
The women's archery team, consisting of Kang Chae-young (Hyundai Mobis), Jang Min-hee (Incheon National University), and An San (Gwangju Women's University), defeated the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) team composed of Kseniya Perova, Yelena Osipova, and Svetlana Gomboeva 6-0 (55-54, 56-53, 54-51) in the final of the women's team event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics held on the 25th at the Yumenoshima Park Archery Field in Tokyo, Japan.
With this victory, South Korea's women's archery team has dominated this event for nine consecutive Olympics since it was officially included in the 1988 Seoul Games. They have not relinquished the throne even once in 33 years.
An San became the first athlete not only among Korean players but also among all participants in this Olympics to win two gold medals. This marks the eighth time a Korean female archer has become a two-time Olympic gold medalist, and the ninth time including both men's and women's teams. Previously, An San won the mixed team event alongside Kim Je-deok (Gyeongbuk High School) held the day before.
