[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] Our women's archery team has taken the first step toward their ninth consecutive Olympic team event victory.

The women's national team, consisting of Kang Chae-young (25, Hyundai Mobis), Jang Min-hee (22, Incheon National University), and An San (20, Gwangju Women's University), defeated the Italian team led by Chiara Rebagliati, Lucilla Boari, and Tatiana Andreoli 6-0 (58-54, 56-52, 56-49) in the quarterfinals of the women's team event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics held at Yumenoshima Park Archery Field in Tokyo, Japan on the 25th.

The national team has won the team event gold medal consecutively eight times from the 1988 Seoul Olympics to the 2016 Rio Olympics.

In the first set, An San, who shot first, scored 9 points, followed by Kang Chae-young and Jang Min-hee, who each scored 10 points. Meanwhile, Italy faltered from the start by scoring only 7 points, and Korea firmly took the lead with a score of 58-54.

The match was already tilted, and our national team comfortably secured victory by winning the next two sets consecutively.

The team, having advanced to the semifinals, will compete for a spot in the final at 3:17 PM against the winner of the Belarus-Japan match.
