[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jun-hyung] On the 24th, one day before his presidential bid announcement, Won Hee-ryong, governor of Jeju Province affiliated with the People Power Party, prepared for the presidential campaign kickoff by meeting consecutively with former Emergency Committee Chairman Kim Jong-in and Party Leader Lee Jun-seok.

On the morning of the same day, Governor Won visited the office of former Chairman Kim located in Gwanghwamun, Seoul. Former Chairman Kim said, "This presidential election is about the future, not the past," and urged, "Please present the vision and practical strategies that the people are most eagerly awaiting." He also advised, "While addressing the past is important, a future-oriented approach that the people can agree on is crucial."

In the afternoon, he met Party Leader Lee Jun-seok at 'Madeul Cafe' located in Nowon-gu. Governor Won reportedly stated, "As a party member, I will fully abide by the party's primary election methods," and expressed that "the victory of the broad opposition and regime change take precedence over everything."

Governor Won will officially announce his presidential candidacy at 10 a.m. on the 25th via YouTube. He plans to retain his gubernatorial position for the time being to continue Jeju Province's COVID-19 response efforts.
