Park Soo-hong Files Civil Lawsuit Worth 11.6 Billion Won Against Older Brother and Wife... "Court Approves Real Estate Provisional Seizure"

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Junhyung] Comedian Park Suhong is reported to have filed a civil lawsuit worth approximately 11.6 billion KRW against his older brother and sister-in-law.

According to the legal community on the 24th, Park Suhong and the law firm S, which is representing him, filed a civil lawsuit demanding damages against his older brother and sister-in-law at the Seoul Western District Court on the 22nd of last month. According to law firm S, the initial amount claimed for damages was about 8.6 billion KRW, but during the investigation of the case, additional allegations of embezzlement from personal bank accounts surfaced, leading to an expansion of the claim and an increase in the amount demanded by about 3 billion KRW.

Additionally, provisional seizure and injunction requests filed by Park Suhong against all real estate properties under the names of his older brother and sister-in-law were accepted on the 7th and 19th of last month, respectively. Park Suhong’s side is also considering filing additional provisional seizure requests.

Earlier, Park Suhong announced his intention to take legal action, revealing that his older brother and sister-in-law had embezzled appearance fees over a period of 30 years. In April, he also filed a complaint with the Western District Prosecutors’ Office against his older brother and sister-in-law on charges of violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes (embezzlement).

Park Suhong’s side claims that although they agreed to distribute profits from the management corporation established by his older brother at a certain ratio, his older brother failed to comply, privately misappropriating corporate funds and embezzling some of them. They also stated that there are indications that the older brother did not settle appearance fees and shifted various taxes and expenses onto Park Suhong’s side.

Park Suhong’s older brother’s side is reported to deny the embezzlement allegations.
