[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Dae-seok) announced on the 23rd that it held the inaugural general meeting for the establishment of the Cherry Blossom Village Social Cooperative at the Nongsung 1-dong Administrative Welfare Center on the 22nd.
The inaugural general meeting held that day was attended by about 50 people, including promoters, local residents interested in establishing the cooperative, Seo Dae-seok, Mayor of Seo-gu, city and district council members, and officials related to the Urban Regeneration New Deal project. Agenda items necessary for the establishment of the cooperative, such as the election of executives and approval of the articles of association, were passed and processed.
The Cherry Blossom Village Urban Regeneration New Deal Resident Council has been conducting resident capacity-building education and expert consulting for the establishment of the village management social cooperative since March.
Through this, they plan to apply for establishment approval from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport after forming promoters, holding weekly TF meetings, and the inaugural general meeting.
Seo-gu stated that once the cooperative is established, it will promote main businesses such as managing and operating village hub facilities created through the Urban Regeneration New Deal project, including the Cherry Blossom Harmony Center and the Health Life Support Center, as well as bathhouses, cafes, catering, side dish stores, indoor sports facilities, and cultural workshops.
Additionally, by utilizing hub facilities and local infrastructure, it will create jobs for residents and comprehensively manage the village, including profit generation.
Mayor Seo Dae-seok said, “As the first village management social cooperative to be established among the Urban Regeneration New Deal projects in Gwangju, it must serve as a model. I hope that the Sangnok Cherry Blossom Village Management Social Cooperative will improve the quality of life for residents of Nongsung 1-dong in the future.”
