On the scorching hot day of the 22nd, a family member of the Sewol ferry victims held a solo protest near the Sewol ferry remembrance and safety exhibition space "Memory and Light" at Gwanghwamun Square in Jongno-gu, Seoul, urging the Seoul city government to halt the dismantling of the memorial space. The city requested the families to organize the items inside the memorial space by the 25th and notified them of plans to dismantle the space on the 26th. The memorial space was created by the Seoul city government in April 2019 after removing the Sewol ferry tent that had been located in the square for about five years since July 2014.
