Eating Delivered Food Inside Vehicles Allowed... Promoting Family Harmony and Communication
[Hampyeong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] If you are tired of COVID-19 and the continuous heatwave, how about escaping the summer heat by holding hands with family, friends, or lovers and going to the Hampyeong Drive-in Theater? Two highly anticipated summer market films are opening.
According to Hampyeong County on the 22nd, the thrilling action film "Mogadishu" and the chilling mystery horror "Method: Repetition" will be released on the 28th at the Hampyeong Drive-in Theater, guaranteed to blow away the tropical nights.
First, "Mogadishu," starring top actors Kim Yoon-seok and Jo In-sung, is a blockbuster with a production cost of about 25 billion won and is the new work of director Ryu Seung-wan. The film is based on the true story of embassy staff from both South and North Korea who joined forces to escape during the Somali civil war in 1991, attracting attention even before its release.
"Method: Repetition" is a work that expands the tvN drama "Method" onto the big screen. It is a film that uncovers the mystery to stop a series of murders caused by the resurrected corpse Repetition, who possesses the cursed ability called "Method" that leads to death.
The Hampyeong Drive-in Theater, boasting the best facilities in the Jeonnam region, differs from conventional theaters where eating is prohibited during movie viewing due to social distancing rules, as it allows delivery food to be consumed inside each vehicle.
Also, since viewers connect via radio frequency inside their cars, they can have conversations with passengers during the movie screening, which is an advantage.
In particular, online advance reservations are possible through the official website, making it convenient. Among drive-in theaters nationwide, only two places offer online reservations.
County Governor Lee Sang-ik emphasized, "At the Hampyeong Drive-in Theater, you can enjoy cultural activities while safely observing social distancing despite the spread of COVID-19," and added, "I hope families, friends, and lovers have a joyful time at the drive-in theater equipped with top-level equipment nationwide."
Meanwhile, since opening in January at the Expo Park Hwangso Parking Lot area, the Hampyeong Drive-in Theater has surpassed a cumulative attendance of about 6,600 vehicles in six months. It is equipped with two screening rooms (Nabi Hall and Hwanggeumbat Hall) and a concession stand, and you can watch newly released films every day (closed regularly on Mondays) from 8 p.m. to midnight.
