[New Release] Boarding the Green Ship Sailing the Earth

[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] A new book titled Boarding the Green Ship Sailing the Earth, which captures the work and life of the first Korean navigator working on Greenpeace’s environmental monitoring vessel, has been published.

This book contains the cheerful and passionate daily experiences of navigator Kim Yeonsik over seven years at sea. It follows his brave footsteps from the Mediterranean’s plastic islands to the Antarctic glaciers, and from the Antarctic glaciers to the South American Amazon. Through his perspective, readers witness environmental issues around the globe. The story also features people from over 20 countries who have gathered with one heart but speak different languages and come from diverse cultures.

The author’s reason for becoming an environmental monitoring ship navigator is simple. He says, “Rather than letting life pass by, I want to fill it with what I desire to do, and above all, I want to be someone who makes a small contribution to the Earth.” The author believes that for those who care about the planet, it is more appropriate to take action by doing what they do best from their current position, rather than grand gestures.

“I hope a small ripple reaches you who read this. May that ripple become a wave, and may we become kinder people to the Earth.” With these words, the author sends a small ripple through his writing.
