[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangnam-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jung Soon-gyun) announced on the 17th that five individuals, including professional baseball players from the Hanwha Eagles and Kiwoom Heroes, will be fined for violating Article 18 of the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act.

Additionally, among them, two general public COVID-19 confirmed cases will be referred to the Gangnam Police Station for further investigation due to 'missing movement paths.'

According to the epidemiological investigation conducted by the Gangnam District Office, it was confirmed that they stayed in the same hotel for six minutes from 1:30 AM to 1:36 AM on the 5th.

After two general public individuals checked in at 11:36 PM the previous day, retired player A checked in at 12:54 AM on the 5th, Hanwha player B at 1:01 AM, and another Hanwha player C joined at 1:22 AM.

At 1:30 AM, Kiwoom players D and E joined, resulting in seven people?two outsiders and five current and former players?being in the same space. The violation of quarantine rules continued until A, B, and C left at 1:36 AM.

This occurred before the introduction of the Level 4 social distancing measures.

B was included in the Olympic preliminary entry list, and E was part of the Olympic entry list, both having passed two weeks after their second COVID-19 vaccine dose, thus exempt from the 'ban on private gatherings of five or more people.' However, the other five individuals violated the prohibition rules and were fined.

Previously, on the 14th, two general public individuals who were referred for investigation along with NC players were found to have missing movement paths added.
