Haenam-gun, Lifelong Learning Center Woodblock Printing Class Wins Big at Jeonnam Art Exhibition

Hong Eun-mi and Kim Young-i Awarded Special Prize Among 10 Honorees

[Haenam＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] On the 16th, Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that lifelong learning center wood carving class learners showcased outstanding skills at the 57th Jeollanam-do Art Exhibition, sweeping multiple awards.

Hong Eun-mi and Kim Young-i submitted wood carving works titled ‘Akrakyo (樂樂樂)’ and ‘Aepiganu (愛被懇遇)’, respectively, and were selected for the Special Selection (Jeonnam Art Association President’s Award). Yoon Min-ha, Nam Woo, Lee Kwang-geun, Min Ho-gi, Shin Dong-gil, Noh Byung-ho, Kim Yi-nam, and Seo Tae-min received honorable mentions.

The wood carving course, established last year as a regular course at the lifelong learning center, has had 12 learners steadily improving their skills under the guidance of instructor Song Tae-jung.

Instructor Song Tae-jung, who is active under the pen name Dowon, is a wood carving artist who has long researched calligraphy, wood carving, and ancient characters such as oracle bone script, presenting wood carving works that embody fresh and new values.

The lifelong learning center wood carving class continues to work hard on their artwork, even after the regular course ended, aiming to win awards at the Korea Art Exhibition.

Haenam-gun Lifelong Learning Center operates various lifelong learning courses, including employment and entrepreneurship certification courses, regular courses, and specialized courses, to establish a lifelong learning system that creates value in life.

A county official said, “We congratulate the wood carving class learners who discovered new talents and gained recognition through lifelong learning center courses,” adding, “We plan to develop educational programs that allow learners to discover a more advanced self through the joy of learning and securing expertise.”
