Diverse Workspaces and Improved Digital Environment
'Market Practice' Program and Live Talk 'Sotok' for Employees
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] AK Plaza announced on the 15th that it has fully adopted a smart office to promote a horizontal organizational culture.
AK Plaza stated, "We have established a smart office at our headquarters in Bundang, Gyeonggi Province, and from this month, employees have started working in the new space."
The AK Plaza smart office operates on a flexible seating system. Regardless of team or rank, employees can work at any seat they prefer, enhancing work efficiency. The previously department-divided spaces have been integrated into one open area to foster natural communication among employees beyond departmental boundaries. Additionally, various workspaces such as individual focus rooms, small group rooms, phone booths, and window bar-style seats have been provided to improve employees' concentration at work.
AK Plaza also built a digital environment to support the work-from-home routine normalized by COVID-19. A separate video conference zone equipped with the latest video equipment was created to improve convenience between remote and on-site workers. In the center of the office, a caf?-style lounge called 'AKafe' was established, allowing employees to enjoy light refreshments while relaxing or working.
Besides establishing the smart office, AK Plaza introduced programs for employees to cultivate a creative organizational culture. Since March, the so-called 'Masil (Market Practice)' program has been supported, allowing employees to step out of their workspaces and directly observe and experience new trends and changes in the same industry. This program is conducted full-time once a month during working hours. Unlike traditional market research for report writing, employees actively participate by posting impressive photos and brief comments on the online workspace groupware SNS, especially engaging the MZ generation employees.
Jaecheon Kim, CEO of AK Plaza, has been conducting a live talk session called 'Our Small Stories, Sotok' with employees since March. Using AK Plaza’s live broadcast platform 'Shasha Live,' this program facilitates free exchange of opinions about the organization and work. On the 9th, to mark the first half of the year, 'Sotok Season 2' was held. At this event, CEO Kim shared the 'Top Ten Hot Issues of AK Plaza in the First Half of the Year' and plans for the second half, while also hosting a roulette event with generous prizes to encourage employee participation. During the 60-minute live talk, employees had the opportunity to freely ask and answer questions.
An AK Plaza official said, "The newly introduced smart office is designed to offer various seating types and a non-face-to-face digital work environment so that each employee can use it according to their individual work style," adding, "We will continue to strive to create a work environment that enhances efficiency by reflecting employees’ opinions."
