[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] SevenBrewery, a craft beer specialist company famous for 'Gompyo Wheat Beer,' is preparing for an initial public offering (IPO).
On the 14th, SevenBrewery announced, "We are currently preparing for listing and have received bid proposals from domestic securities firms."
If the listing happens as early as next year, SevenBrewery will become the second craft beer company to enter the domestic stock market, following Jeju Beer, which went public last May.
SevenBrewery originated from the house beer specialty store 'Trains,' which opened in 2003 at the Seoul Station private station. In 2011, it became the first small and medium-sized enterprise to obtain a general beer manufacturing license, officially starting its craft beer manufacturing business. Beginning with the launch of the country's first ale beer, 'SevenBrewery IPA,' it has released various products over the past 10 years, including 'Seoul,' 'Hangang,' and 'Yangpyeong.'
Last year, 'Gompyo Wheat Beer,' created in a joint venture with Daehan Flour Mills, gained great popularity, significantly boosting sales. 'Gompyo Wheat Beer' attracted attention by selling out its initial batch of 100,000 units within three days of its release in May last year. Due to this popularity, production volume was greatly increased this year, but all 3.6 million units sold out within a week, causing order suspensions at convenience stores.
Recently, SevenBrewery also succeeded in attracting investment from domestic institutional investors. After receiving 10 billion KRW from Almus Investment, it is expected to receive an additional 4 billion KRW from ID Ventures and Kiwoom Securities. During the investment attraction process, SevenBrewery was reportedly valued at approximately 80 billion KRW.
