[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] North Korea criticized Lee Jun-seok, the leader of the People Power Party, for his claims to abolish the Ministry of Unification and the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family through its external propaganda media. However, there was no mention of Lee’s claim to abolish the Ministry of Unification.
The external propaganda media 'Meari' criticized in an article dated the 14th, written under the name of Li Myung-jung, a sociologist of ethnic Koreans in China, stating, “The behavior of Lee Jun-seok and the People Power Party figures who frequently mention even the abolition of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family eloquently shows that politicians themselves remain at a pre-modern level of consciousness.”
Meari pointed out that the ‘Lee Jun-seok phenomenon’ is a shameful self-portrait of South Korean society.
Meari claimed, “It is another abnormal and dangerous phenomenon rooted in reactionary consciousness and backward social systems that go against the development of human history,” adding, “Lee Jun-seok’s claim that ‘gender discrimination is an illusion’ even reminds one of the sophistry of neo-Nazis who say ‘the Holocaust is an illusion.’”
The ‘Uriminzokkiri’ cited South Korean media, saying, “Looking at Lee Jun-seok’s behavior over the past month is unbearable to watch,” and reported, “He openly advocates gender discrimination and calls for the abolition of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.”
North Korean propaganda media criticized Lee’s claim to abolish the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.
However, there was no content regarding Lee’s claim to abolish the Ministry of Unification.
Earlier, on the 9th, Lee raised the issue of abolishing the Ministry of Unification, which led to a verbal dispute with Lee In-young, the Minister of Unification, and he faced criticism both inside and outside his party.
Meanwhile, North Korea had not issued any particular response since the People Power Party leader election was decided on the 11th of last month, but on this day, it published several articles criticizing Lee through four propaganda media outlets.
