[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] The government is promoting the "Excellent Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Jobs of the Month" project to resolve the youth job mismatch.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Korea Federation of SMEs, Korea SMEs and Startups Agency, and Korea Employment Information Service announced on the 12th that they will carry out the youth matching support project for excellent SME jobs of the month until December this year.
This initiative was prepared to alleviate the job mismatch between SMEs and young job seekers amid difficulties faced by youth in finding jobs due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and the shrinking employment market.
The cooperation among these organizations is a follow-up measure to the memorandum of understanding signed in May between the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Employment and Labor, Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and Korea Federation of SMEs. It selects jobs preferred by young people from recruitment announcements of excellent SMEs and supports matching with young job seekers.
The excellent SME jobs of the month are selected in real-time from recruitment announcements of companies listed on the "Cham Gwaenchanheun Small and Medium Enterprise" platform that are actively recruiting each month, meeting criteria such as an annual salary of 27 million KRW or more, full-time positions, and no experience required.
The selected job and company information are provided through dedicated sections and pop-up windows on the Cham Gwaenchanheun Small and Medium Enterprise platform, the Corporate Workforce Difficulty Center, Worknet, and JobKorea. Any young job seeker aged 15 to 34 (up to 39 for those who have completed military service) can participate in the project.
Baek Dong-wook, Head of the Youth Hope Job Department at the Korea Federation of SMEs, stated, "We will strive to help young people struggling with employment difficulties through this matching project that connects good SME jobs with young job seekers."
