Card Gorilla, Top 10 Popular Check Cards in the First Half of 2021
Popular Cards with Easy Payment Benefits
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] In the first half of this year, check cards equipped with simple payment discounts and reward benefits gained popularity. This reflects the acceleration of contactless consumption due to COVID-19.
According to Card Gorilla, the largest credit card specialist site in Korea, the most popular check card in the first half of this year was selected as 'Woori Card Card-ui Jeongseok Cookie Check.' This survey analyzed the number of views and application conversion rates for check card products on the Card Gorilla website from January 1 to June 25, 2021.
Woori Card Card-ui Jeongseok Cookie Check, which has maintained the top spot since last year, offers cashback of 1,000 to 5,000 KRW in shopping, coffee, movies, convenience stores, and transportation sectors when spending over 200,000 KRW in the previous month. The limit increases as the previous month's spending increases, and it provides up to 2% cashback on overseas merchant usage, including overseas direct purchases.
The second place was taken by 'Naver Pay Woori Card Check.' Since it accumulates 1% of the usage amount as Naver Pay points without requiring a minimum previous month’s spending, it has consistently ranked high since last year when online shopping increased. When used at overseas merchants, the overseas usage fee of 0.5 USD per transaction is waived.
The third place went to 'Shinhan Card Deep Dream Check.' It accumulates 0.2% at all merchants without any previous month’s spending or accumulation limit. When spending over 200,000 KRW in the previous month, it accumulates 0.6% in five categories and up to 1% in the category with the highest spending.
The fourth place was 'NH Nonghyup Card Ryan Cheese Check Card,' which provides reward services in daily life areas such as coffee, online shopping, and delivery apps. The fifth place was awarded to 'KB Kookmin Nori Check Card,' which offers comprehensive discounts in daily life areas such as public transportation and telecommunications. The sixth place, NH Nonghyup Card’s 'NH20 Haebom Check Card,' adds selectable services to online shopping and daily discounts. The seventh place was 'Kakao Pay Shinhan Check Card,' which accumulates 2% when paying with Kakao Pay.
The eighth place, 'KB Kookmin Wiggle Wiggle Check Check Card,' offers refunds and discounts up to 4,000 KRW on Naver Pay, Kakao Pay, and SSG Pay depending on the previous month’s spending. The ninth place was 'Kakao Pay Shinhan Con Check Card,' which can accumulate up to 20,000 KRW based on the number of uses without previous month’s spending conditions, and the tenth place was 'Kakao Bank Friends Check Card,' which provides additional cashback on weekends and holidays.
