[Featured Stock] FNS Tech Surges on Joint Development of Semiconductor Reuse Polishing Pads with Samsung Electronics

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] FNS Tech is experiencing a sharp rise on the 8th. This follows the news of successfully developing a chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) pad reuse technology in collaboration with Samsung Electronics.

As of 11:27 AM on the 8th, FNS Tech is trading at 13,350 KRW, up 13.62% compared to the previous day.

Meanwhile, on the same day, Samsung Electronics announced that it had succeeded in developing a chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) pad reuse technology with its semiconductor and display equipment partner, FNS Tech. This is the world's first achievement. Polishing pads are essential components in semiconductor processes but were disposable consumables after use. However, with Samsung Electronics' success in reuse, it is expected to have positive effects not only in reducing semiconductor process costs but also from an environmental perspective. In particular, Samsung Electronics is evaluated to have contributed to strengthening the semiconductor materials, parts, and equipment ecosystem by jointly developing the reusable polishing pad technology with its partner, FNS Tech. FNS Tech has been supplying CMP pads produced according to Samsung Electronics' requirements to actual semiconductor manufacturing lines since early this year. Although the supply volume is not large, it is noteworthy as the world's first case of reusing CMP, a core material in semiconductor processes.

Samsung Electronics and FNS Tech plan to continuously evaluate the performance of reusable CMP pads in semiconductor manufacturing processes and increase their adoption. As the mass production infrastructure for reusable CMP pads expands, price competitiveness is expected to improve further.

Kim Pal-gon, CEO of FNS Tech, emphasized, "We will increase the production volume of reusable CMP pads in the future while expanding the level of process cost reduction."
