[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Lee Jun-seok, leader of the People Power Party, visited TK (Daegu·Gyeongbuk) for the first time since his inauguration. This move comes as an effort to embrace the conservative stronghold of TK ahead of the presidential election in eight months.

On the morning of the 7th, Lee paid respects at the National Sinam Patriotic Martyrs Park in Dong-gu, Daegu, where a collective graveyard for independence activists is located, honoring the sacrifices of the patriotic spirits. The schedule included attendance by Daegu Mayor Kwon Young-jin, lawmakers Kwak Sang-do, Ryu Seong-gil, Kang Dae-sik, and Supreme Council member Kim Yong-tae. In the guestbook, he wrote, "We, the People Power Party, will faithfully uphold the noble and sacred will of the patriotic martyrs and strive to build a just nation." Regarding the visit, Lee said, "To change the culture of paying respects that has so far focused on former presidents, today I visited those who have not received much attention."

He then visited the Samsung Creative Campus in Buk-gu, Daegu, where he held a meeting with young entrepreneurs to discuss regional startup and job support measures. At the meeting, Lee stated, "There is a perception that the growth engine of our country has been lost since the Moon Jae-in administration," adding, "Regarding startups, as was promoted during the Park Geun-hye administration, we will focus on regional revitalization through ‘creative economy innovation’ and actively implement support measures." He also announced plans to propose a presidential election pledge to address the issue of local talent migrating to the metropolitan area.

In the afternoon, Lee is scheduled to hold a press conference with Daegu journalists and meet with merchants at Seomun Market to hear the voices from the field of people’s livelihoods.
