[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] In the future, only beef raised and slaughtered within the United States is expected to be labeled as 'Made in USA.'

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki announced on the 6th (local time) during a regular briefing that President Biden is scheduled to sign an executive order directing the Department of Agriculture to change regulations regarding American beef.

The core of this executive order is to revise the current regulation that defines meat processed and packaged in the U.S. as American, to recognize beef as American only if it has been raised or slaughtered in the U.S. for a significant period.

Press Secretary Psaki emphasized, "We discovered an absurd fact. Most of the beef labeled as 'Made in USA' is actually raised and slaughtered overseas and then imported into the United States."

Psaki added that the Biden administration is taking action to protect small American farms from the tyranny of giant meat corporations.

She said, "The President and the Department of Agriculture believe it is unfair for our farmers and ranchers to compete with foreign companies that mislead consumers."

President Biden is also reportedly about to sign an executive order urging the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to take action so that farmers can have their tractors repaired by repair shops other than the manufacturers.
