Dong-A Hwasung "Dong-A Fuel Cell's Own Hydrogen Fuel Cell Enters China... In Talks with Blest-KunA"

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Dong-A Hwasung's subsidiary Dong-A Fuel Cell announced on the 5th that two patents related to fuel cell stacks and systems, key components of high-temperature polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (HT-PEMFC), have been registered.

The "High-Temperature Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell Stack" technology developed with Dong-A Fuel Cell's proprietary technology was approved for registration on the 25th of last month. The patent for the "Preheating Device and Preheating Method of Polymer Fuel Cell Stack," jointly filed with the Korea Institute of Energy Research, was registered in March.

The research team at Dong-A Fuel Cell, who invented this technology, stated that the newly secured patents cover fundamental technologies for the design and manufacture of multiple cell units, including the stack's bipolar plates, membrane electrode assemblies, and gaskets.

CEO Dal-Young Park said, "The registered technology is installed in fuel cell systems and improved through long-term demonstrations to address issues," adding, "It is unique worldwide and represents a breakthrough in the airtightness and durability of HT-PEMFC stacks."

Dong-A Fuel Cell is conducting practical negotiations with China's Blest-KunAi to enter the Chinese market using the patented technology. Blest-KunAi has acquired technology transfer for the membrane, a core element technology of HT-PEMFC, from Germany's BASF and is promoting business within China.

A representative of Dong-A Fuel Cell stated that they plan to manufacture HT-PEMFC stacks at Dong-A Fuel Cell by receiving MEAs from Blest-KunAi and export them to the Chinese market.
