[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongjak-gu is accepting name suggestions for the ‘Dongjak Youth Cafe’ until the 15th.
‘Dongjak Youth Cafe’ (Noryangjin-ro 32-gil 29-6) was completed last month by remodeling the old Gangnam Senior Center building, which had been abandoned for over 10 years, as part of the Bondong Urban Regeneration New Deal Project’s Bondong Cafe Culture Street pilot project.
The facility has a total floor area of 227㎡, with one basement floor and two above-ground floors. The first floor consists of a cafe and a Han River viewing deck, while the second floor includes a cafe and a small performance hall.
The district completed the selection of entrepreneurs through a public contest in April. It provided manufacturing equipment such as coffee machines and ice makers, and supported stable business establishment by offering training in operational techniques, marketing, and consulting in specialized fields such as management and taxation.
This contest is being held to discover a fresh and friendly cafe name that will actively promote Dongjak Youth Cafe as the catalyst for the Bondong area’s cafe street and increase residents’ interest.

Applicants must be residents registered in Dongjak-gu or affiliated with a workplace, school, or organization in the district. Refer to the district website’s notices/announcements section and submit entries via email to the person in charge (blueyim2@dongjak.go.kr) or by visiting in person.
The district plans to select the winning entry in August and award a prize of up to 500,000 KRW. Winners will be notified individually.
