[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] SGC E-Tech Construction (CEO Lee Bokyoung, Ahn Chankyu) announced on the 29th that it has secured logistics center orders worth 200 billion KRW in the first half of this year.
SGC E-Tech Construction stated that it recorded over 200 billion KRW in new logistics center orders in the first half alone and plans additional orders in the second half, expecting the total new logistics center orders to exceed 500 billion KRW within the year.
Logistics centers have been rapidly expanding due to increased demand for delivery and shipping as non-face-to-face consumption was preferred amid COVID-19 last year. Moreover, the demand is growing further as logistics centers are no longer simple warehouses but smart logistics centers equipped with automated facilities such as packaging robots or logistics centers with sorting functions.
SGC E-Tech Construction's first logistics center order was the 'Chilgok Yeongnam Cold Logistics Center,' a 6,000-pyeong low-temperature logistics center ordered in 2019 and completed at the end of last year. It is currently used by Coupang. Last year, the company additionally secured Coupang's Gwangju logistics center, which is currently under final construction.
An SGC E-Tech Construction official explained, "In the past, logistics warehouses were simple storage spaces for stockpiling inventory, but now they function as logistics hubs where incoming goods are immediately sorted and dispatched," adding, "The variety of facilities such as freezing and refrigeration equipment allows the company's plant technology to demonstrate its competitiveness."
In fact, there are not many companies with plant technology capable of constructing frozen and refrigerated logistics warehouses, and SGC E-Tech Construction's technology is said to be unrivaled in this field.
He continued, "Since last year, the volume of logistics center orders has surged, enabling us to achieve our order plans even amid the COVID-19 situation," and said, "This year, the volume of logistics centers is increasing further, and we expect new logistics center orders to exceed 500 billion KRW within the year."
Meanwhile, SGC E-Tech Construction, a powerhouse in the plant business with expertise in chemicals and construction, is also accelerating its housing business through the residential brand THE LIV. The company has set a guidance of 1.3 trillion KRW in sales and 2.4 trillion KRW in new orders for this year.
