Jangseong-gun's 'Jeonnam Tourism Promotion Exhibition' Receives Positive Response

[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters] Reporter Johan Kyu=Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, received great response by participating in the ‘Jeonnam Tourism Promotion Exhibition’.

According to the county on the 28th, the Jeonnam Tourism Promotion Exhibition is a collaboration between Jeonnam Province and Gwangju Shinsegae Co., Ltd., displaying photos and videos of major tourist attractions in Jeonnam on the first floor of Gwangju Shinsegae Department Store until the 11th of next month.

The county attracted attention with promotional videos full of charm from representative tourist spots such as Hwangryonggang, known as ‘the most beautiful flower river in Korea,’ and Jangseongho, acclaimed as a healing travel destination.

They also prepared an exhibition event where visitors can directly experience the scent of cypress from Chukryeongsan and wildflowers and flower tea from Hwangryonggang.

Hwangryonggang was a neglected area overgrown with weeds until just five years ago, but since the 6th local government administration, it has revitalized the riverside and the entire city through Yellow City color marketing inspired by Hwangryonggang.

Today, Hwangryonggang is famous as a flower river where one billion flowers bloom, and it hosts the autumn Yellow Flower Festival, which has recorded one million visitors for three consecutive years, receiving much love from locals and visitors alike.

Jangseongho, known as the ‘inland sea’ due to its grand scale, was once spotlighted as a national tourist destination but later lost public interest.

Previously, since 2017, the county rediscovered its value by creating a waterside trail and suspension bridge. Recently, it has steadily gained popularity with an average of 7,000 visitors on weekends throughout all four seasons.

The county plans to focus more on widely promoting Jangseong’s charm and revitalizing tourism ahead of the ‘Jeollanam-do Visit Year’ (2022?2023).

A county official said, “We prepared the exhibition so that visitors can fully enjoy Jangseong’s ‘clean content’ such as Hwangryonggang flowers, Jangseongho waterside trail, and cypress forest all in one place,” adding, “We ask for active participation in the second event to be held on the 4th of next month.”
