Controversy Over Jeju Hotel Review Requesting Wearing Body-Hugging Skirt Uniform

[Asia Economy Reporter Seoyoung Kwon] A controversy arose after a review of a hotel located in Jeju Island requested staff to wear skirt uniforms that emphasize the body.

On the 14th, a post titled "Controversial Hotel Review" was uploaded on an online community. The post included a screenshot of a review of a hotel in Jeju Island posted on the Booking.com website.

The review was written on the 13th of last month, in which the guest praised, "Upon entering the room, a spacious and luxurious space and the vast ocean outside the terrace unfold," and "At the outdoor pool, I was able to enjoy swimming while admiring the view of the ocean so full it felt like a floating pool above the sea." The guest also highly praised, "If you want the generously visible ocean and sky, and relaxation in the room space, you cannot find a better place than this."

However, regarding the hotel's drawbacks, the guest mentioned, "The female employees' attire is too masculine, creating a stiff feeling and even a sense of discomfort." The guest added, "If the uniform were changed to naturally reveal femininity, it would provide comfort and enjoyment to guests," and included suggestions such as "a skirt uniform that fits closely to the body like a flight attendant's uniform."

Netizens expressed outrage at the content of this review, condemning it as treating female employees as objects of visual pleasure. Comments included, "Are there still people like that in this day and age?", "It is an act of simply objectifying hotel staff and flight attendants," and "Work uniforms should be made within the scope that considers the symbolism of the workplace as a hotel and operational efficiency."
