[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Seo Dae-seok) signed a business agreement on the 24th with the Catholic Archdiocese of Gwangju for the successful utilization of the Bredy Hall and museum exhibition rooms.
According to Seo-gu on the 25th, the Catholic Archdiocese of Gwangju was designated by the Cultural Heritage Administration as National Registered Cultural Heritage No. 681-1 in 2017 for Bredy Hall, which has high preservation and utilization value among modern cultural heritage.
In 2018, the main building, Henry Hall, and the dining hall were designated as National Registered Cultural Heritage Nos. 681-2, 681-3, and 681-4, respectively.
This business agreement aims to contribute to citizens' cultural enjoyment by opening the facilities of various cultural spaces to be created through the utilization project of Bredy Hall and the museum by the Catholic Archdiocese of Gwangju.
Bredy Hall is planned to be maintained and utilized as educational and play spaces, exhibition and experience spaces, and lodging and conference spaces.
The museum will exhibit works and materials preserved by the Catholic Archdiocese of Gwangju, including Western paintings, Korean paintings, sculptures, and coins (silver coins) from different eras.
A Seo-gu official said, "We will do our best to utilize the various cultural spaces of the Catholic Archdiocese of Gwangju, which will be opened to citizens through this business agreement."
