'To the Families of the Fallen in the Korean War'... TMON and Ministry of National Defense Collaborate for the Second Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] TMON announced on the 25th that it will conduct a DNA sample collection campaign for the families of fallen soldiers from the Korean War in collaboration with the Ministry of National Defense's Remains Recovery and Identification Unit (hereafter referred to as the National Remains Unit) through its social contribution program, 'Social Donation.'
Marking the 71st anniversary of the Korean War, TMON will run a promotional campaign until the 9th of next month for the Korean War fallen soldiers' remains recovery project and the DNA sample collection project for their families. By entering 'Remains Recovery Project' or 'Social Donation' in the TMON search bar, actual families of veterans can apply for DNA sample collection. After filling out simple personal information, the National Remains Unit will verify and send out the sample collection kit.
General customers who are not family members can also participate in the promotional campaign through 'Cheer for the Korean War Fallen Soldiers Remains Recovery Project.' By sharing the campaign on personal SNS and leaving a supportive message on the bulletin board, 100 people will be selected by lottery to receive 10,000 won in TMON points.
Meanwhile, TMON has continuously supported the DNA sample collection project for families of Korean War fallen soldiers since last year. As the only online platform capable of non-face-to-face sample collection during the COVID-19 pandemic, it contributed to securing DNA from the families.
A TMON representative said, "Since partnering with the National Remains Unit on June 25 last year, we have steadily carried out support activities for DNA sample collection for families of Korean War fallen soldiers," adding, "On the occasion of the Month of Patriots and Veterans, we hope to honor the noble sacrifices of veterans and provide practical help for families to participate in sample collection."
