[Yeongam=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Jeonnam Yeongam Fire Station (Chief Im Dong-hyun) announced on the 25th that, amid the COVID-19 pandemic restricting the entry of foreign workers, it has supported farm labor assistance centered on the Yeongam Fire Station Volunteer Fire Brigade to alleviate difficulties in rural areas.
So far, a total of 335 people have helped with farm labor at 28 farms, including rice seed sowing, weeding in fig orchards, chili planting, and corn planting.
Kim, a beneficiary of the rural labor assistance, said, "In a situation with a shortage of labor, finishing timely sowing eased a big concern, and I sincerely thank you."
Jeon Seung-ryeol, president of the Yeongam County Volunteer Fire Brigade Association, responded to the gratitude of the beneficiaries, saying, "I am rather glad to be able to contribute even a little to the farms during these difficult times for everyone."
Im Dong-hyun, chief of Yeongam Fire Station, said, "Although active activities are cautious due to COVID-19, we will strictly follow quarantine rules and contribute even a little."
