Hyundai Motor and Naver Z Collaborate for Virtual Test Drive of Sonata N Line in 'Zepeto'


[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Hyundai Motor Company announced on the 25th that it will collaborate with Naver Z's global metaverse platform 'Zepeto' to provide an experience where users can test drive the Sonata N Line in a virtual space.


The metaverse is a compound word combining Meta, meaning virtual or transcendence, and Universe, meaning the real world, referring to a mixed reality where virtual and real worlds interact. Zepeto, a metaverse platform, is a service that allows users to communicate with friends through avatars representing themselves and enjoy various activities such as playing, shopping, and working in a virtual space.


Hyundai Motor, the first in the automotive industry to implement vehicles on Zepeto, enabled users to test drive the Sonata N Line in popular maps (kkonggan) within the platform, such as Downtown and Driving Zone. Additionally, users can utilize the Sonata in Zepeto's video and photo booths, where they can create videos and images using their avatars.


Furthermore, Hyundai Motor will hold a prize giveaway event for customers who post content featuring the Sonata on Zepeto for three weeks from the 1st to the 21st of next month. A Hyundai Motor official stated, "Using the Sonata, which has excellent product quality, as a medium, we will expand customer experiences to virtual world platforms mainly used by the MZ generation (born in the 1980s to 2000s) and build a brand image leading new technologies," adding, "We plan to continuously implement various global platforms by expanding the vehicle lineup in the future."
