[Asia Economy Reporter Kangwook Cho] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 25th that manufacturing defects were found in 75 imported car models totaling 24,942 units, and a recall will be issued.

Audi, Volvo, Mercedes-Benz and 8 Imported Car Companies Recall 24,942 Vehicles A6 45 TFSI Premium.

Audi Volkswagen Korea’s imported and sold 46 models including the A6 45 TFSI Premium, totaling 9,759 units, will be recalled due to insufficient stiffness of the trailing arm fixing nut, a part inside the rear axle suspension, which may cause the nut to break and result in loss of vehicle stability.

Volvo Cars Korea’s imported and sold 7 models including the S60, totaling 7,208 units, will be recalled because the fuse capacity of the fuel supply control device is insufficient, which may cause the fuse to blow and the engine to stall due to fuel supply interruption.

Mercedes-Benz Korea’s imported and sold 2,537 units of the C 200 were found to have a risk of fire due to overheating of parts inside the alternator caused by an engine control unit (ECU) software error during prolonged idling. Additionally, 760 units of 12 models including the GLA 200 d have a clearance between the bearing and mounting hole inside the steering wheel shaft, which may cause the bearing to come off and result in improper steering control.

Ford Sales Service Korea’s imported and sold 2,098 units of the Aviator were found to have a signal error in the image processing module that transmits to the interior screen, which may cause the rear view not to be properly displayed on the screen when reversing. This is a violation of safety standards, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will proceed with the recall first and plans to impose fines later considering the correction rate.

Tesla Korea’s imported and sold 516 units of the Model 3 were found to have a possibility of the brake caliper detaching due to assembly defects in the brake caliper fixing device, which may cause braking failure.

Porsche Korea’s imported and sold 424 units of 2 models including the Cayenne Coupe were found to have a risk of the trailing arm fixing nut inside the rear axle suspension breaking.

Jaguar Land Rover Korea’s imported and sold 320 units of 3 models including the Range Rover Sport 3.0D were found to have poor fixation of the rear spoiler. If the spoiler detaches from the vehicle body, it may pose a safety hazard to following vehicles, leading to a recall decision.

Suzuki CMC’s imported and sold 1,320 units of 2 two-wheeled models including the Burgman 125 may have a malfunction in the speedometer and other instruments due to a defective circuit board in the instrument panel.

The recalled vehicles can receive free repairs at the manufacturers’ service centers. The manufacturers will notify owners of the correction methods via mail and mobile text messages. If vehicle owners have repaired the defects at their own expense before the recall, they can apply for reimbursement from the manufacturer.
