KT Builds Electronic Library 'Gonggan' at Submarine Command Headquarters

[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] KT announced on the afternoon of the 24th that it has established and held an opening ceremony for the electronic library ‘Gonggan’ at the Naval Submarine Command in Jinhae-si, Gyeongsangnam-do.

The electronic library ‘Gonggan’ was supported by KT to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the ‘1 Company 1 Barracks’ partnership formed with the Submarine Command in July 2016. In addition to building a dedicated eBook zone, KT donated 494 eBooks across 284 titles and 40 devices to access them.

KT and the Submarine Command expect that the electronic library will help submarine crew members, who spend more than 150 days a year in the unique environment of submarines, relieve cultural isolation and fatigue caused by prolonged disconnection from the outside world due to COVID-19.

Jinwoo Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of KT Busan·Gyeongnam Regional Headquarters, stated, “KT will always support and encourage the Submarine Command soldiers who work hard for the country in a special environment so that they can take pride in their military service.”

Yongmo Yang, Commander (Major General) of the Submarine Command, said, “We expect the electronic library and dedicated eBook zone to greatly contribute to the bright and healthy military life of the submarine soldiers,” adding, “We will fulfill our original mission to meet KT’s support and the expectations of the people.”
