The Sky Route Between Muan and Gimpo Opens at Muan International Airport

[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province announced that the inauguration ceremony for the new route of 'Hi-Air,' connecting the sky route between Muan and Gimpo, was held on the 24th at Muan International Airport.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeonnam Province; Seo Sam-seok, Member of the National Assembly (Yeongam·Muan·Shinan); Kim Han-jong, Chairman of the Provincial Council; Kim San, Mayor of Muan County; Yoon Hyung-kwan, CEO of Hi-Air; Park Il-sang, Chairman of the Muan International Airport Revitalization Promotion Committee; and residents of Muan County.

Starting from that day, Hi-Air began its first flight on the Muan-Gimpo route, operating 13 times a week. From the 1st of next month, it will add six weekly flights on the Muan-Jeju route.

Governor Kim said, "This will be a signal for the revival of the tourism and aviation industries, which have been depressed due to COVID-19," adding, "We will prepare for the post-COVID era by attracting foreign tourists and expanding international routes through the Korea Tourism Integration Support Project (KTTP) centered on Muan International Airport."

He continued, "We will do our best to ensure that Muan Airport stands tall as the representative gateway airport of the southwestern region of Korea through the Muan International Airport revitalization foundation project and the promotion of the second phase of the Honam High-Speed Railway project."

Hi-Air is the only small aircraft operator in Korea. Since starting the Ulsan-Gimpo route in 2019, it has launched the Sacheon-Gimpo and Jeju routes, and last year began the Yeosu-Gimpo route, safely serving over 150,000 passengers to date.
