[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Eun Soo-mi, mayor of Seongnam City, visited areas damaged by last summer's flood and wind disasters one after another to inspect the sites.
On the 23rd, Mayor Eun visited three locations: Sanho Apartments in Sangdaewon-dong, Pangyo Mobius Apartments in Unjung-dong, and Soetgolcheon in Geumgok-dong, to check the restoration and supplementary measures for last year's flood and wind damage, and ordered preparations to prevent flooding and casualties.
The places Mayor Eun visited that day were sites that suffered flood damage such as landslides last summer. Although recent facility improvements and safety inspections have been completed, residents still have significant concerns.
When a resident she met in Unjung-dong said, "It seems the slope reinforcement work has been well completed, so I feel less worried, but as the rainy season approaches, my fear is growing again," she replied, "I will make sure that the same damage never happens again."
Furthermore, Mayor Eun stated, "Disaster preparedness is the most important role of local governments, and the foundation of administration for citizens' safety lies in preventing recurrence and taking preventive measures," adding, "Please actively prepare and prevent at the site so that citizens can worry less."
Seongnam City is inspecting the restoration status of areas damaged by last year's heavy rains and is expanding inspections to prepare for disasters such as this year's heavy rains and typhoons.
